The State Board of Nursing is responsible for enforcing statutes, rules and policies as implemented by the Nurse Practice Act, Nurse Aide Practice Act, and the Licensed Psychiatric Technician Practice Act. Board staff oversee education, licensing, and enforcement of nurses, nurse aides, and licensed psychiatric technicians. The State Board of Nursing oversees more than 110,000 licensees.

Stakeholder Meeting – August 16, 2024

The purpose of this Stakeholder Meeting is for the Board to receive feedback on proposed revisions to Rule 1.9 – RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE IN RELATION TO IV AUTHORITY; Rule 1.18 – RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE IN RELATION TO MEDICATION AIDE AUTHORITY; Rule 1.28 – RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR LICENSURE OF CERTIFIED MIDWIVES; and Rule 1.29 – RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR PRESCRIPTIVE AUTHORITY FOR CERTIFIED MIDWIVES.

Additionally, the Board is seeking feedback on several questions to stakeholders with respect to Rule 1.12 – RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR APPROVAL OF MEDICATION AIDE TRAINING PROGRAMS. The questions presented for stakeholder feedback relate to the interaction between approved or prospective Medication Aide training programs and certain requirements with respect to Medicare and Medicaid

Permanent Rulemaking Hearing – April 24, 2024

The purpose of this Rulemaking Hearing is for the Board to decide on proposed revisions to Rule 1.15 - RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR PRESCRIPTIVE AUTHORITY FOR ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSES, in order to clarify the statutory mentorship requirements for APN RXNs, and to correct a formatting error in Rule 1.14 – RULES AND REGULATIONS TO REGISTER PROFESSIONAL NURSES QUALIFIED TO ENGAGE IN ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSING.

The purpose of this Stakeholder Meeting was for the Board to receive feedback regarding Revisions to Rule 1.15 - RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR PRESCRIPTIVE AUTHORITY FOR ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSES, in order to clarify the statutory mentorship requirements for APN RXNs and to correct a formatting error in Rule 1.14 – RULES AND REGULATIONS TO REGISTER PROFESSIONAL NURSES QUALIFIED TO ENGAGE IN ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSING.
